Sadness Washes Over Me
Then it hit me really hard. This will probably be our last NASCAR race at Phoenix and possibly ever again due to the rising costs of the tickets that keep going up and the restrictions they place on the season ticket holders. It would be nice if they gave us 4 payments to make instead of 2 and not demanded the money almost a year in advance, but that is big business and I understand they have to stay in the game.
It just breaks my heart that we will have to give it all up after the race in November. The two weeks per year everyone knew I would be gone from work, the two weeks my husbands co-workers knew where he would be & now after almost six years, it is over as quickly as it started.
Part of the fact is that it costs just as much almost for the kids tickets as it does the adults and we just truly can't afford to pay almost $2K for tickets alone.
I am hoping maybe we will go out once a year or at least try to hit a few races once every other year at different tracks. How fun would that be? Seeing Vegas, California Motor Speedway, Texas. Lots of new faces.
I will miss terribly the 'old guys,' as I call them (Buddy, Dayton, Harold & George), Sandy and Brad, Keith & Kellie and of course Roger and JoAnn the newlyweds in our midst. We all live in different states or different parts of town, we work and while some of them do, still others are retired.
Life is funny & things change & move forward. What wonderful adventure will we try next?
